About

Jebena Wings started in Chicago because I couldn't find berbere anywhere nearby — at least not the real kind. I grew up eating Ethiopian food, moved to the US, and found myself cooking from memory and making do with substitutes that weren't quite right.

So I started making my own. The spice blends first, then the injera, then I started sharing them with neighbors and friends. The packages got more organized. The demand didn't stop.

Now we ship from Chicago to wherever you are. Everything is made in small batches: the berbere and mitmita from whole dried chiles, the shiro from roasted chickpeas and spices, the injera from teff flour and natural fermentation. No shortcuts.

The name comes from the jebena — the Ethiopian clay coffee pot — and the wings that carry what's inside it to your kitchen.
